Dr. Ishan Gunawardene MD,FACP

Dr Ishan Gunawardene is an Internist certified by the American board of internal medicine and a fellow with the American college of physicians .He received his medical degree from St. George’s University school of medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Coney Island Hospital, an affiliate of State University of New York in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Gunawardene’s professional interest include internal medicine and academic medicine, as adjunct clinical associate professor in internal medicine. He trained many doctors who graduated and practicing in many fields, at Wellington Regional MEDICAL CENTER as well as currently at LAKESIDE MEDICAL CENTER.

Dr. Gunawardene was awarded the golden apple award by the residence as the best teacher in internal medicine out of all doctors in 2010, 2011, and 2013 he also served on the medical executive committee at Wellington Regional medical Center, currently serves as the chief of staff at LAKESIDE MEDICAL CENTER. Dr. Gunawardene participates in many decision-making committees such as peer review committee, medical excellence committee, at LAKESIDE MEDICAL CENTER. With these roles, he participates in many high-level decisions involving evidence based patient care to achieve the best outcomes in critically ill patients.

Shariffa Gunawardene DNP, APRN

Shariffa Gunawardene is a board certified family nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nurse practitioner treating patients of all ages for a wide variety of chronic and urgent health concerns as well as offering preventative medical care. Shariffa received her doctorate at Florida Atlantic University and currently a teacher for PA students attached to South university.

Shariffa ’s professional interest include practicing evidence based family primary care, preventative care as well as critical illness. As a five star rated family nurse practitioner she spends time with each patient giving undivided attention. Her passion includes getting to know the patient’s in a holistic approach in order to customize attention.
